Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

1 lb (450g) sirloin steak (or ribeye), thinly sliced

3 cups cooked white or jasmine rice

1 cup queso cheese sauce

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

½ teaspoon black pepper

Optional Toppings

Fresh chopped cilantro

½ cup diced tomatoes

Pickled jalapeños (to taste)

¼ cup sour cream

Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

Slice steak thin and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.

In a hot skillet, sear steak until browned on both sides (2–3 min per side). Remove and set aside.

Sauté chopped onion and garlic in the same skillet until fragrant.

Add cooked rice and stir until heated and well combined.

Lower heat and pour in queso sauce. Stir gently until melted and creamy.

Notes

Type of Steak: Sirloin is lean and flavorful, but ribeye adds extra richness. Flank or skirt steak also work well if sliced thin against the grain.

Rice Options: Jasmine or long-grain white rice are best for fluffiness. You can also use brown rice or cauliflower rice for a healthier twist.

Queso Tips: Use store-bought queso for convenience or make your own using cheddar, cream cheese, and a splash of milk for extra creaminess.

Make it Spicy: Add a diced jalapeño to the skillet with the onions, or stir in a bit of cayenne pepper with the seasoning.
